AWARD WINNING DOG TRAINER FELIX SUNGA
Before Felix ever welcomed a dog into his life, his fascination with animals began with keen observation of their behavior. Little did anyone know that this early interest would shape his future. At the age of 16, Felix obtained permission from his parents to get a dog. Before bringing his furry friend home, Felix delved into extensive research on the breed that captured his interest the most – the Rottweiler.
Armed with numerous books and magazines dedicated to the breed, Felix immersed himself in the world of imported European dogs, particularly those with Schutzhund titles. When Felix finally had enough funds to acquire a dog, he chose a puppy imported from Germany, whom he named Kato. With Kato's arrival, Felix's passion for training ignited.
Over the course of two years, Felix diligently trained Kato and earned his Schutzhund 1 title. During this time, Felix honed his ability to read dogs and cultivate aggression in protection dogs. His skills attracted attention from some of the top dog handler teams in America, many of whom went on to compete internationally.
In 1998, Felix interviewed for a position at the San Francisco SPCA Hearing Dog Program. His exceptional abilities in training dogs to a high level quickly became apparent, demonstrated by his rapid success in training his demonstration dog, Whimsy. Within just two months of starting his employment, Whimsy became a star in the world of Hearing Dogs. During this time, Felix overhauled the hearing dog training system, reducing the training duration from six months to just two months. He also significantly increased the ratio of rescue dogs successfully trained as serviceable hearing dogs, reaching an all-time high of 77%.
Presently, Felix is dedicated to nurturing new trainers and handlers through his club, founded in 1999. Over the years, Felix and his club members have achieved notable success, often finishing on the podium with their dogs in championships. In 2009, Felix led his dog River to victory at the Regional Championships, placing first overall among Ring 2 competitors. That same year, Felix and River secured second place overall at the National Championships.
In addition to his accomplishments, Felix generously shares his expertise with rescue organizations across the San Francisco Bay Area, assisting them in developing effective training and kennel practices.

What is a Solutions Session and what does it entail?
At Tri-Valley K9 Services, we're not your typical Bay Area dog trainers. We specialize in achieving long-lasting results with all types of dogs in Northern California, earning a reputation as the go-to destination for disobedient dogs. Our training approach is fully customizable to you and your pet, starting with a Solutions Session.
During this approximately one-hour session, conducted conveniently at your home, our Training Director, Felix Sunga, will assess your dog's behavior, discuss your goals, and provide immediate basic solutions. This initial meeting allows Felix to evaluate your dog's needs and collaborate with you to determine the best training program.
